Nov 10.- The Andean Parliament ratified in Bogotá, the capital of Colombia, its firm stance in favor of the cause of the five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters unjustly imprisoned in the U.S.
In a meeting at the headquarters of that entity, Andean deputy Gloria Florez welcomed Fernando Gonzalez’s -one of the Cuban Five- wife Rosa Aurora Freijanes, on behalf of her colleagues, social and women organizations of Colombia.
Florez said without the Cuban people’s determination and integrity, Latin America would not have a light of hope and stressed that the Andean Parliament’s fight for the return of Gerardo Hernandez, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino and Rene Gonzalez –known as the Cuban Five- is unstoppable.
Florez said the only crime committed by the Cuban Five was to dream about and defend the freedom of a people that has lived under the threat of terrorism for more than five decades by the United States.
Rosa Aurora addressed the audience among which were also the Cuban ambassador to Colombia, Ivan Mora, and other members of the diplomatic mission, as well as artists, musicians and human rights activists.
Previously, Bogotá’s mayor Clara Lopez had described the injustices committed against the Cuban Five as shameful.
After listening to Aurora Freijanes’ statements, Lopez said she was very upset after knowing the details on the case, PL reported.
Lopez met with Freijanes at her office in the Liévano Palaca, located in the centrally located Bolivar square in Bogotá. (acn).
